I hear this complaint all the time and I get it, it frustrates me too. The problem is, most cabinet companies don’t do custom woodworking. They claim it’s “custom” because you can pick your trim, color, hardware, and other minor aesthetics but the size is never custom. Almost all modern day cabinet companies sell cabinets (of all qualities) that are mass produced overseas (i.e. China). Even when the cabinets are produced domestically, the strategy is still the same. The only way these production facilities operate is to mass produce all the same sizes which is why you can’t find the cabinets that fit “perfectly”. Therefore, the truth is, these cabinet companies are not cabinet builders, instead they are cabinet resellers.
